Kansas Recap – Out of Fuel with 3 to Go Costs the Win
Kansas Recap- Stewart Friesen HFR Halmar International #52 Chevrolet Silverado
– Stewart Friesen earned his first stage wins of the season, claiming the win for both Stage One and Stage Two. Friesen led eight times for a total of 87 laps.
– The 52 team had some miscommunication on a green flag pit stop late in the race with the call being a two-tire or four-tire stop. The result was Friesen’s Chevy ultimately did not receive enough fuel to complete the race and he was forced to pit from the lead for fuel with three laps remaining in the 167-lap race.
– Friesen is currently third in the point standings, 15 points out of first.
“I just want to say a big thanks to Halmar and Chevrolet for all they do to keep us in this series. It’s a dream come true to race at this level and thanks to Chris Larsen for that. We just had a bunch of miscommunication between me and Trip (Bruce, crew chief). We’ll work on it and get better. We had a fast hot rod. Thanks to my team and the GMS Fabrication guys for the support, everyone that has helped me out. All the great owners that I’ve drove for over the years that allowed me to get to this level. We’ll be back. I have no idea if that victory is coming but I hope so and we’ll keep working.”
